The Ladder of Success:

A Graded Sequence of Skills to help pupils become confident about using computers

The Dolphin System is designed to train all children to be confident, independent computer users. Pupils assist each other in working up the Ladder of Success, a comprehensive hierarchy of modules, carefully structured to develop computer skills up to and beyond the levels required by the English National Curriculum orders and new Scottish 5-14 guidelines. The materials are suitable for use by pupils and adults from age 7 upwards.

Computer Based Instructions:

Available on CD for installation on a single computer or network

Unlike other ICT schemes, the Dolphin System is totally computer based. The pupil instruction pages look just like pages on the internet, so the children, while using the materials, are learning the skills they will need to use the web effectively. The instructions are easy to follow and give lots of support with new skills and vocabulary. Help buttons give detailed instructions for a variety of common software programs. If your favourites are not included please get in touch and our developers will get busy!

Peer Tutoring:

A Method of Teaching/Learning ICT Skills

Children love the Dolphin System because it uses peer tutoring - they get the chance to be teachers as well as learners - which is great for their self-confidence and interpersonal skills. They can work in pairs with a high degree of independence from the teacher and find that teaching their classmates is the best way of making sure they have understood something properly themselves!

Pupil Self Assessment:

Builds Confidence & Self Esteem

Pupils are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning. They keep track of their progress in a personal record booklet, either on paper or on screen, and also assess their tutors on the quality of their teaching! Regular assessment tasks make sure that the pupils really can do what they think they can.
