Sandlings Primary School, Woodbridge, Suffolk
After reviewing the Dolphin System at home with my own daughter, I persuaded the head teacher at the school where I teach that it would improve our pupils confidence with ICT. He ordered it and I used it with my Year 3/4 class.
They found it simple and straightforward to use and within a few sessions were happily progressing through the modules for each step, acquiring essential computer skills as they went.
Less confident and less able pupils found the peer tutoring very supportive, whilst it helped the more able to reinforce their skills and knowledge.
It has become an important part of our ICT teaching and is used in the lunchtime Computer Club as well. We have noticed the children using computers more readily and confidently and enjoying their work more, because of this.
Last week we even had a Year 3 child helping out a teaching assistant who was having some difficulties with a cut and paste activity between two programs. Both enjoyed the shared experience.
I would not hesitate to recommend Dolphin to anyone who has identified the need for a system of teaching basic ICT skills that are assumed already in place by the current curriculum. In fact I have just ordered the Dolphin System to use in my private tuition classes as I am convinced of the benefits to my students.
