Holm School was part of Phase 1 of the NGfL/NOF developments in ICT in
Highland. Once we had completed our training we were anxious not to lose
the momentum gained and wanted to organise a programme for ICT from P1
to P7. In addition some of the class teachers were not very confident
and were looking for a resource to work on by themselves to improve
their skills.
John Bruce, who was co-ordinating NGfL/NOF across Highland, gave Holm
School a little information about the Dolphin System, so we sent for the
CD and the rest is history!
Dolphin was successfully introduced to P4 to P7 classes, with the peer
tutoring going down very well with our pupils. The staff enjoyed using
the Dolphin System with the children but also used it to help improve
their own ICT skills. They found that by working up 'The Ladder of
Success' their confidence was improved as were their ICT skills.
We are now into our third full year of using Dolphin and it is
gratifying to see almost all our pupils well on the way to achieving the
recommended Level for ICT 5-14!

Dolphin is continuing to work very well. Everything is very clear on it,
with even the teachers still learning new things that the computers can do!
Each lesson works very well due to the help buttons on Dolphin. Found the
help buttons especially useful on Step 7 Using Formulae as we don't use
Microsoft Excel very much. Also transferred this information to Softease
spreadsheet and used that too.
